ANA

I was commissioned to honor Ana's memory with a portrait for her human.
Above is the progression of my work. I started by photo-bashing pictures of Ana to get a general shape and feeling before going in with color. I treat my digital paintings like my traditional paintings, often working on one layer and maybe putting elements (ie, the feathers) or particularly challenging parts (the mouth and her ears tripped me up) on a separate layer to focus on. I used a placeholder field background until I received the direction for the front porch. I was also told that she looked a little too large on her right side (indicated by the yellow lines). I trimmed down the fur and placed her smiling at home. I used ProCreate for the project.

DINING IN THE DARK INVITATIONS

As part of an art test for the Southeastern Guide Dogs, I was challenged to blue sky pitch logos and invitations to their fundraising dinner, 'Dining in the Dark.'
I wanted to highlight and utilize brail in my invitation designs, all the way down to the envelope. Programs that were used for this project were Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

HALLOWEEN CARD

I have always enjoyed section views of buildings. I loved getting lost in the rooms and all of the little clutter in all of the spaces, and the more the world is filled, the better. I also love interactive art and the whimsy that comes with childhood flip books, and decided to make the card that I had always wanted to see.
Above left are all of the characters attending the witch's party. Above center and right are my sketchbook showing the ideas for the house, the rooms, and the guests attending the witch's party.
After sketching, I used Adobe Illustrator.

THANKSGVIVNG CARD

This is my Thanksgiving Card prototype. My favorite part of Thanksgiving has always been the magic surrounding the parade, with giant balloons, complex floats, large bands playing familiar songs, and so many people packed along the street, wanting to be at that epicenter of celebration. I have yet to go, which is probably why I wanted to make this condensed, collapsible version. Everything was first drawn in my sketchbook and then scanned in and colorized in AdobePhotoshop.
Short mention of my brain and creation style; I drew and scanned from my sketchbook the elements to be colored. I combined and colored ALL of the illustrations, then went to erase before printing. After the first, I asked why I was spending the extra time erasing and printing; I should have continued and put the additional elements in the space - hindsight.
DIGITAL ILLUSTRATIONS

Below is a smorgasbord of my digital drawings. I am a traditionalist and a physical maker more than I'm on my iPad. The drawings start with most recent and get older as you go further back.
